Memory Object No. 6: Plugging in

Construction photos. Built almost entirely during the airing of YTIISI radio's third live broadcast, my good friend and radio show host, Duane, noted, "This is what was going on behind me? These photos right here represent one half hour in the life of Barbara Polster."

Memory Object No. 5

4 is still in the works, but in the meantime, here's a little one.

P.s. Decided on the Installation Detail of Involuntary Memory Object No. 1 to serve as my image that will be featured in Studio Visit Magazine (publishers of New American Paintings), due to come out this Fall.

No. 4: In-progress

Been stressed over this one - making anything with curves gets tricky with these materials, but it's coming along. Working on a few other small objects tangentially.

The Apropos of Building a Cage

After three unsuccessful and frustrating attempts, I have the beginnings of a cage for the blades and motor. If I didn't have to be at work in 3.5 hours, I might have actually finished this tonight. Toying with the idea of taking a little bit of a financial blow and adding another studio day to my week by requesting off a third day from work - call it an "investment"? Tell that to Direct Loans, my landlord, and the car payment people, I guess.

Anyhoo, a few studio visits coming up in the near future and major projects are ending while others are beginning. This is a good time.. just have to figure out how to not sleep. So far, I'm doing an okay job of that.

Feet!

Involuntary Memory Object No. 3, Space Elevator, and A COMPASS!

Above is the first few steps of Involuntary Memory Object No. 3 - and boy oh boy, what was I thinking? Royal pain, no joke. Starting to look okay, though. Nos. 1 + 2 are both constructed and on the website. 2 was successfully installed. Installation photos are also on the site.

Drawing circles sucks less with a compass! Woo:
And the space elevator has backup tower pieces and WALLS! I have enough tower pieces to build two more modules - so approximately 11.5' tall. Now all that's officially left is the last of the fourth grate (making slow progress; been overly excited about the memory objects) and the braces for the walls. So close!
